Family Owned & Operated for Three Generations

Northwest is currently owned and operated by brother/sister partnership of Mike Pfeiffer and Debby Hendrickson. The Pfeiffer family experience dates back 3 generations with a long and rich family history in construction beginning with the partnership of our Grandfather, Mike Pfeiffer and his 3 brothers in the late 1920’s.

Paving Beginnings

Since then the Pfeiffer family has remained steadfast in their dedication and their love for the construction industry. Our father Don Pfeiffer was the lead general Superintendent of operations for the first company to bring blacktop and a blacktop plant to the State of Minnesota, and performed much of the original paving work in the Metro area.

Pride in a Job Well Done

From early beginnings construction has been a cornerstone and a source of great pride for the Pfeiffer family. We continue to focus our energies on providing the same commitment to excellence and achievement that has kept this family focused on the industry for 3 generations. The experience of the current owners of Northwest dates back to 1972 with the start up company of West Suburban Utilities. West Suburban Utilities continued to grow and prosper over the years and later purchased Northwest Bituminous in 1978 and re-named both companies Northwest Asphalt. Northwest Bituminous was established in 1949 and provided a strong and loyal customer base of general contractors in the metropolitan area as well as a wide variety of experienced employees to build our future.

Northwest has grown to become one of the Twin Cities largest Commercial Contractors, providing Paving, Excavating and Sewer and Water work to be your total site contractor.
